An insurance CV is not a copy of a banking CV
Mixing up banking and insurance terminology is one of the most common reasons for weak ATS matching in this sector.
Many people use a generic finance template, and the terms insurance companies are searching for get lost. An ATS does not "understand" that you are an insurance expert; it matches your text against the job description word for word. That is why you need the correct sector vocabulary: Underwriting, Claims, Broking, Actuarial, Reinsurance, and products such as motor insurance, medical insurance, and property and casualty within the cooperative insurance model adopted in Saudi Arabia.
If you come from a banking background or are moving between the two sectors, it can help to compare with the banking and finance CV guide to see exactly where the language differs and where it overlaps.
Terminology and metrics for every insurance track
Choose the vocabulary of the role you are targeting, and back it up with real numbers from your own work.
Underwriting
Risk assessment, premium pricing, policy terms, coverage limits, loss ratio. Example phrasing: "Reviewed "X" insurance applications per month and tuned pricing criteria, reducing the loss ratio to "Y"%."
Claims
Claims settlement, damage assessment, insurance fraud, average settlement time, policyholder satisfaction. Example: "Handled "X" claims and cut average settlement time from "X" to "Y" days."
Broking and sales
Insurance broking, portfolio renewal, customer retention rate, written premium volume, cooperative insurance for individuals and companies. List your sales channels and portfolio size in real numbers.
Actuarial and reinsurance
Actuarial modelling, technical reserves, risk-based capital (RBC), proportional and non-proportional reinsurance treaties, company solvency. Mention the programs and tools you have genuinely mastered.
Name the regulator and certifications correctly
ATS software and hiring committees pick up the names of the regulator and professional certifications precisely — so write them exactly as they are officially named.
Since the end of 2023, regulation of the insurance sector in Saudi Arabia has moved to a dedicated body, the Insurance Authority, after oversight previously sat with the Saudi Central Bank and the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance. When referring to regulatory compliance in your CV, use the current correct name so you show that you are up to date with the sector.
- Insurance Foundation Certificate Examination (IFCE) — the general foundation certification required to work in the sector.
- Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) certifications at their professional levels.
- Actuarial certifications from accredited professional societies, for those on the actuarial track.
- Supporting skills: compliance, anti-money laundering, policyholder service, and policy and claims management systems.
Write each certification's full name followed by its acronym in parentheses (for example, Insurance Foundation Certificate Examination (IFCE)), because some ATS software matches the full text and some the acronym. For more on choosing the right words, see the CV keywords guide.
A format that passes ATS without losing your data
The best insurance content is wasted if it sits in a layout the machine cannot read.
- Single column: avoid multiple columns, tables and images, because many ATS read them in a scrambled order or ignore them entirely.
- Standard section headings: "Work Experience", "Certifications", "Skills" — no creative titles that confuse the classifier.
- File format and font: use Word or a selectable, text-based PDF, clear fonts, and consistent dates.
- Numbers in place: write your metrics (number of claims, portfolio size, retention rate) as text, not inside images or charts.

Your real numbers are stronger than any exaggeration
The strongest insurance CV is built on verifiable achievements, not generic phrases.
Put your own metrics forward — the number of policies you underwrote, the value of claims you settled, your portfolio renewal rate, the settlement time you improved. Do not copy numbers that are not yours; the hiring committee in an insurance interview will ask about the details, and inflation is discovered quickly. Where you do not have an exact figure, describe the impact clearly without inventing a percentage.
